Chole

Preparation time - 15 min
Cook time - 45 min
Serves - 3-4

Garbanzo beans(chick peas) - 1 can

Ingredients:
4 spoons of oil
2-3 bay leaves
2-3 cloves(lavanga)
1-2 cinnamon stick
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
pinch of turmeric
1 onion ( chopped and grinded)
2 tomatoes (grated)
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 - 1 and half tbsp Dhaniya powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp chole masala

Procedure:
1. Take the chopped onions and grind them and make a paste and keep aside.
2. Grate the tomatoes and keep aside.
3. Take a wide pan and add oil in it.
4. Once the oil is heated add the bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds.
5. Fry for 2 min , then add the onion paste.
6. Fry the onion paste till it turns brown, see that the paste doesnt stick to the pan, if it does then add oil to it.
7. Add turmeric and ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 min.
8. Add the grated tomatoes and tomato puree and fry for 2 min, add little water and cover the pan.
9. After 5 min once the oil starts separating add the garam masala, dhaniya powder and chilli powder to it and mix well.
10. Now add the chick peas and a little water and cover the lid for 10 - 15 min, so that the peas become soft. Keep checking in between.
11. Remove the lid and add salt and chole masala and mix well.
12. Fry for sometime till it becomes thick or if you prefer it to be watery you can have it that way too.
13. Garnish with onions and lime.

Chole is good with puri/batura and roti.
