1 bunch Spinach(Palak) leaves
1 cup kandi pappu
1 medium size Onion, chopped
1 medium size Tomato, chopped
1 tsp chilli powder(depends on your spice levels) / 6-8 green chillies(slit)
1/2 tsp turmeric
2-3 tbsp of oil
lime size tamarind
salt
2 cups water
For Seasoning(talimpu/popu):
1 tsp mustard seeds(aavalu)
1 tsp cumin seeds(jeera)
few curry leaves(karivepaku)
red chillies(2-3)
garlic- 2 crushed
Procedure:
1. Wash the spinach leaves and cut them to small pieces.
2. Wash the kandi pappu and keep them aside.
3. Take a pressure cooker and add the kandi pappu ,spinach leaves,tamarind,onions,tomatoes,turmeric,chilli powder/green chilles. Now add 2 cups of water in the cooker.
4. Pressure cook them for 3 whistles and then on sim for 10min.
5. Remove the lid of the cooker and add salt and mix well.
6. Take a vessel and put 2-3 spoons of oil. Now add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic, red chillies and curry leaves to it.
7. When the mustard seeds starts to splutter, pour the mixture from the cooker to this seasoning (talimpu) and mix well for 3-5min.
Palakura pappu is ready to eat.
