Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup All purpose flour
2 tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp Baking powder
1 cup Sugar
1 tbsp Vanilla essence
1/2 cup Milk or water
1/2 cup Vegetable oil
2 Eggs
Ingredients for Frosting:
2/3 cup Heavy cream or whipping cream
9 oz(260gm)semisweet chocolate(40-50% cocoa)
Procedure:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 deg F(180 deg c)
2. Grease a 9 inch(23cm) cake tin.
3. Mix flour,cocoa powder,baking powder,sugar,vanilla essence in a bowl.
4. Add milk/water,vegetable oil and eggs.
5. Mix everything to a smooth batter,either by hand or using a electric mixer at slow speed.
6. Transfer to bakin tin and bake at 350 deg until a wooden pick is inserted and the center comes out clean.Approximately 35-45 min.
7. After the cake has completely cooled down slice it in between.(easy if the cake has been in the refridgerator).
Frosting:
1. Heat 2/3 cup of whipping cream in a sauce pan.
2. Remove from heat and add the finely chopped semisweet chocolate,stir until smooth,let it cool until it thickens.
3. Use 1/3 of frosting in between the layers,1/3 on top and the rest 1/3 around the cake.
4. Put the cake in the fridge for an hour or more to harden the frosting.
The cake tastes good without the frosting too.
